Letter of Commendation - Computer Migration

Key Points to Writing
  • f you haven't already, Take a writing class. English Comp will do.
  • WRITE!!! The more you do it, the better you get.
  • Ask for HELP, not knowing what you are doing can hurt you, your Airmen & unit.
  • Use various writing resources like Merriam-Webster Online
  • Use a spell checker.  (F7 Word)
  • Remember, there is a purpose for writing a letter or MFR.

The following Example has been taken out of a Word.  If you have anything you would like to submit, please do so.  If you have found this information useful, please let me know. Everyone of these letters has taken considerable amount of time to put together.  Please treat yourself to something special from one of the ads on the page.  We will both get something out of it.  (All money gathered pays for hosting fees and domain fees.  HONESTLY, when I see money come in it also prompts me to work harder on the site.)

## MON YEAR

MEMORANDUM FOR CMOC/J3CC

FROM:  COL FNAME LNAME

SUBJECT:  Letter of Commendation; TSGT FNAME LNAME

1.  TSgt LNAME performed above and beyond all expectations.  He assisted our Network Operations Branch (N-SPJ6OA3) in completing the migration of 250+ Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center (CMOC) Command Automation System (CAS) users to the Microsoft New Technology (NT) Operating System.  The CAS provides essential command and control functionality for staff action officers throughout North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and the United States Space Command (USSPACECOM).

 2.  We started planning in 1996 to implement a wholesale migration of CMOC CAS users to the Windows/NT Operating System and a modern 32-bit suite of office automation applications.  TSgt LNAME played a key role in the successful completion of this migration effort by helping to reconfigure servers, install new office automation programs, setup a new Electronic Mail (E-Mail) package, and test end-user client configurations.  His reputation as NCOIC, Computer Systems Integration (CMOC/J3I) is outstanding.  This makes TSgt LNAME’s unselfish and unwavering support to this migration effort even more remarkable.

 3.  TSgt LNAME’s exceptional attitude and technical expertise were repeatedly demonstrated throughout this period.  His performance was selfless, dedicated, and committed to the objectives of the mission.  TSgt LNAME clearly deserves this recognition.

 4.  Please pass along my sincere appreciation for a “job well done”.
