SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation

TO: Whom It May Concern

Mr. [First Last Name] was employed in the Williams Air Force Base Fire Department for a period of twelve years. He was first employed in September 1942, an with the exception of one year and eight months, during which period he served in the U.S. Army and in government service at Los Alamos, New Mexico, his employment in this department was continuous until he resigned in July 1956.

During the period of his employment in this department, Mr. [Last Name] progressed from a position of firefighter trainee to Assistant Fire Chief in stiff competition with other assigned personnel. This achievement is indicative of his skill as a firefighter and exceptional supervisory ability. He has a thorough knowledge of all aspects of structural fire fighting and protection functions as well as aircraft crash rescue operations. Moreover, he has demonstrated that he is an effective instructor and, as such, has directly contributed to the proficiency of this department.

Mr. [Last Name] has distinguished himself on a number of occasions through his valorous acts in the rescue of pilots from crashed aircraft and in combating aircraft fires. His display of courage and devotion to duty in situations during which he was exposed to great personal danger, reflects credit upon himself, and this department.

He is an industrious and sincere worker, and has a great sense of personal integrity and moral conduct. I can unhesitatingly recommend Mr. [Last Name] for any position in which these attributes, and a thorough knowledge of fire department functions, including actual fire fighting and supervisory duties, are the prerequisite qualifications. I do believe, however, that Mr. [Last Name] can succeed in any career field that he may elect to pursue.

[First M. Last Name]
Captain, USAF
Commander
