To whom it may concern:
I first met [First Last Name] when he joined our
OS/390 systems programming team at [Company Name]
in 1997. Since then, he has become one of the lead systems programmers on our
team by demonstrating
his knowledge of the operating system and a variety of program products in a way
that other teams
come to him when they have questions or problems.
One of [First Name]’s first projects was brining
standardization to the management of mainframe
printers within the [Company Name] environment. To
accomplish this, he had to gain the trust and
confidence of the centralized Output Management Department as well as the staff
within the distributed
print facilities. While involved with the printer project,
[First Name] also worked on a number of
program product upgrades to support the Y2K readiness effort.
[First Name] is an avid programmer who likes to
develop utilities and productivity aids primarily
because he enjoys it. He has demonstrated a mastery of ISPF, REXX, JCL, and a
number of other
programming skills. A valued team player, [First Name]
is always ready to share his knowledge and
skills with others who have joined the team along the way.
[First Name] has even developed an
ISPF/REXX training course on his own time and presented the class to his peers
at the bank.
On his own, [First Name] has taken on a project to
formalize the process by which our team reviews
planned systems changes. Because of this enhanced verification process, we can
go into a corporate
outage with a high level of confidence that the changes will be implemented
cleanly.
As if he were not busy enough with his work life, [First
Name] stays busy with a number of home
remodeling projects. Even there, he has shown a high level of attention to
detail and pride in his work. [First Name] also finds time to assist friends and
neighbors on home repair projects when called upon.
[First Name] is to be commended for his desire to
support his country by remaining part of the Air
Force Reserves. Based on his accomplishments and determination, I can safely
assume that he can
carry out whatever his commanders ask. He has become a good friend and respected
teammate.
Sincerely,
[First M. Last]
