Dear [Employer]:
Your employee, First Last, is a valued member of the ###d Fighter Wing, Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida. This year is especially busy for us in the Reserve component, and as [first name]'s primary employer, we feel than an explanation is necessary as to why your reservist might be asking your patience for additional time off in 1995.
As you know, one of our reservists' participation categories is an Annual Tour, and the reservists is allotted 15 days per year to accomplish this training. In normal times, the Wing's annual tour is scheduled, your reservists participates, and those 15 days away from your workplace are, hopefully, painless. This year is different because our Wing is scheduled for a formal inspection from our active duty counterparts in October. What makes this of interest to you? Simply that, although their participation spans two fiscal years (FY94 = 1 Oct 94 - 30 Sep 95; FY95 - 1 Oct 95 - 30 Sep 06), we are having to ask many of our key reservists to accomplish two annual tours (30 days) in the same calendar year to prepare for, and actually take, this inspection. Bottom line: Last may be approaching you for some additional time off to participate during calendar year 1995.
I am aware that the increasing demands of our Wing sometimes puts us in direct competition for Last's talents. I will never jeopardize his good standing with you; and I hope you can understand the balancing act we are forced to make requirements meet demands. Please contact me directly at ###-###-#### if you need further clarification; and thanks in advance for your support of us in the ###d Fighter Wing.
